China or Turkey.
I am always searching for advantages for our clients when they buy from us in Turkey. China has been the industrial hub of the world for years and have always been able to produce products for a lot less than us here in Turkey but slowly but surely their prices are rising. In days gone by if it cost 100 euro in Turkey in was 50 Euro in China. This discrepancy has dropped to a mere 20%.
Order a container from China and you may get you goods 6 months later. Order from Turkey and your waiting time will be less than 2 months.
Recently I had a meeting with one of our customers who told me that they visited a factory in China in the springtime two years ago. They ordered two containers of Christmas goods with the intention of having them in the shops for the last week in November. The first container arrived on Christmas eve and the second at the end of January. Needless to say they did not sell until the following year. Great advertisement for China.
Quality is another issue. China is renowned for cheap goods. This has improved over recent years and buyers are no stupid and do not accept bad quality. Because of this more are turning to Turkey where goods are guaranteed to be the best available.
TRIED AND TESTED MARKET
Exports to the European Union, which account for about half of Turkey’s total exports, increased 33 percent year on year to 93.1 billion dollars, allowing Turkey to register a trade surplus of roughly 7.7 billion dollars with the EU. According to the figures, sales to the United States increased 44.6 percent year on year, or 4.54 billion dollars.
Exports to the United Kingdom increased by 22 percent in the first year after Ankara and London signed a post-Brexit free trade deal. The deal was signed in December 2020 to promote a 25 billion dollars economic cooperation.
Now is the moment to jump on board with the forecasted increase in Turkey’s exports.
